Using hwbot

A guide by hokiealumnus

Hi there Forum Wars participants. Today you get to learn how to use hwbot. It's not too hard, so let's just jump in!

First, you'll need to go to the hwbot page and create your account. hwbot is located at www.hwbot.org. On the left about half-way down the page, you'll see a box that looks like this:

hwbot login

Click on "register" next to "not a member?" That will take you to the application page, where you'll need to fill in all your info:

hwbot registration details

Don't forget to type "yes" to verify you're not a bot and put a check mark saying you agree to the terms and conditions. Also be sure to select your team. If you don't have a hwbot team setup for your forum, then click on the "create new team" check box. Now, click "create my login" and we're off. This should take you back to the main page IIRC. If not, navigate back there and enter your login info in the box first pictured. Then that box will have some new contents:

So you've got an account. Hooray for that, but you need to submit your scores of course! For the purposes of this tutorial, we're going to submit a WPrime32 score. This rig won't be running in Forum Wars and is simply used for an example; this poor Phenom runs out of gas too soon.

Anyway, before actually going to submit, there are a couple things you need to do for a successful submission:

Now that you've run the bench and have all the stuff needed, you can submit your score! To begin that process, in your indentification menu, click on "submit score" (intuitive, no?). That will take you to a screen containing the below, where you select which bench you want to submit.

Select the WPrime 32m bench and click "next". That will take you to the submission page. You need to fill in your system info and then post the screenshot and compare link. Here is what the submission page looks like:

After filling in all of the details, don't forget to check the box saying you have read and agree to the rules. Then click "submit benchmark result" and it's in! Here is the verification page telling you that it went through successfully:

You have now successfully submitted your benchmark result. There is a hwbot compare URL now on the results page for you to use. Congratulations, you're up and going. Happy benching! Try not to blow anything up.
